Autonomy without a brake is a liability, not a feature. Every irreversible action in VOLT is gated, and the gate is enforced in the system itself — not in an instruction the engine is asked to follow.
Production is approved, never assumed
Merging to production, promoting a deployment, sending a client email — each one stops and waits for a person. Approvals arrive in the app and in Slack, and both read from the same live source, so they cannot disagree.
Evidence, or it didn't happen
Work arrives with the proof attached: a preview URL you can open, screenshots at desktop and phone size, and an independent quality pass that re-opens the page rather than trusting the report that built it.
Spend has a ceiling you set
Daily, weekly and monthly caps. When a cap is reached the work checkpoints and waits — it does not quietly keep spending. The caps fail closed.
One switch stops everything
Pause holds the floor: running work checkpoints safely and nothing new starts. It is reversible, and it is always one tap away.
The honest part.
Every company selling AI right now says it is autonomous. Here is where ours stops — because you will find out eventually, and it should come from us.
It is not unsupervised
A person reviews anything that reaches your customers. VOLT is leverage on a small team, not a replacement for one. Thomas still reads every submission.
It is not a product you buy
VOLT is our internal engine. You do not get a login or a seat. What you get is the output — and a studio that can operate more products than its headcount suggests.
It does not replace judgement
It is very good at doing the work and terrible at deciding whether the work is worth doing. That call stays with people, which is why the gates exist.
